Online Learning and Teaching
The Online Learning and Teaching (OLT) system has been designed to enable easy, remote engagement with online content, media and communications technologies by both students and staff.
Every OLT site is different to reflect the needs of the unit.
Despite these differences, there are a few common ways OLT is used to assist the teaching and learning at QUT. Common activities include:
* Using OLT to access and download unit related documents (and print these documents yourself or via Flexiprint)
* Using OLT to access the Course Materials Database (CMD) of online readings for the unit.
* Communicating with teaching staff and other students. For example, discussion forums, chat rooms or tutorial email lists.
* Many lecturers use the Notices area of the OLT site to disseminate unit related information.
* Submitting assessment items, undertaking quizzes and receiving feedback via the OLT system.
* In some units, students have the opportunity to build their own sections of the OLT site, which may or may not be accessible to other members of the student group.
The OLT system has just been reviewed and a recommendation has been made to move to a commercial LMS in 2007. Full documentation of the review process can be found at OLT System Review.
OLT will continue to be fully supported until the new LMS has been completely implemented. No further new tool development will be undertaken for the OLT system.
The OLT Status website shows planned outages information as well as estimated OLT service restoration time.
