Who we are

Established in 1996, Oxford University’s Saïd Business School is Europe’s fastest-growing business school, with a reputation for innovative business education. An interdisciplinary approach

Diploma in Financial Strategy

The Diploma in Financial Strategy at the University of Oxford is a masters-level postgraduate qualification that provides the essential parts of an MBA for accountants and other senior finance professionals. It is an opportunity to broaden and enhance skills while gaining an Oxford qualification.

The Diploma is rigorous and intellectually challenging. It is designed to offer graduates the profile of an investment banker, the strategic approaches and techniques of a consultant and the skills of a finance director. It also compliments existing qualifications and contributes towards professional CPD requirements.

BA in Economics and Management

Studying management at Oxford

Studying management at the Saïd Business School involves learning to think hard about organisations, the economy and society. Our undergraduate programmes are not intended to turn you into effective managers - only experience can do that. Instead, the programmes are designed to give you a thorough grounding in the theory of management studies and the intellectual skills of the social sciences.

The BA in Economics and Management

The BA in Economics and Management is jointly offered by the Saïd Business School and the Department of Economics. The subjects are ideal intellectual partners, each particularly fitted to strengthen and cross-fertilise the other. Economics provides the broader understanding of economic activity within which all organisations function; management in turn analyses the character and goals of that functioning.

Throughout the degree the theoretical and the applied are firmly welded together, whether in macroeconomics, marketing or information management. Each course orientates its subject in a broad intellectual and social context. Accounting, for example, is not studied simply as a self-contained body of technical expertise (although this is fully covered) but also as a tool for decision-making, for evaluating performance and for understanding the organisation and its positioning and relationships.

While the BA in Economics and Management covers all the core areas of both subjects, it is also notable for the range of options it makes available - some 20 in all. These options allow students great flexibility to compose their own course in accordance with their individual interests and career needs.

DPhil in Financial Economics

The University of Oxford has an exceptionally large and high- profile group of academics researching in finance. The strength of the University's presence in this area derives from the fact that research in finance is undertaken in several departments including the economics, law and maths departments, as well as the Saïd Business School. Research expertise therefore ranges from the most mathematically technical to the most policy relevant.

Within the University, the Saïd Business School has the largest concentration of finance faculty. The School has particular expertise in the fields of asset pricing and corporate finance. As well as being of the highest academic standards, its research is relevant to the design and regulation of securities markets, corporate financial policy and the impact of financial markets on real economic activity.

The Business School's twelve-strong finance faculty are all actively engaged in research and publish in the top international journals. There is a regular programme of research seminars and workshops throughout the year to which research students are encouraged to contribute.
