Placencia, with about 1,000 residents, is situated about 76 miles south of Belize City and can be reached by land, sea or air. As one of the main fishing communities of Belize, historically, Placencia’s residents came to know the area like the palms of their hands. Placencia is famous for its warm hospitality, friendly English-speaking people and beautiful white sandy beaches, which stretch from the Village north about 17 miles along the Placencia Peninsula.

Placencia offers a wonderful variety of underwater and inland tours. Beneath its blue waters is an underwater world that exceeds other Caribbean destinations. Over 185 miles in length from north to south, the Belize Barrier Reef system is the greatest in the Western Hemisphere and the second largest barrier reef in the world.
